Meet the minds behind Sock Club’s custom socks.

Bubbly, energetic, bold: meet Katie, a member of Sock Club's Customer Success Team. Katie began her Sock Club career in January 2019.

Why do you love being a Customer Success Team member?

I love the challenge of taking on a variety of clients and helping them make custom socks that are uniquely their own. The reactions, compliments, and glowing feedback are a reflection of the hard work we dedicate to ensuring the client’s satisfaction.

What are three qualities successful Account Manager needs?

An account manager has to be flexible: things are constantly changing at Sock Club. Positive: having a good attitude makes all the difference. Personal: you have to be energized by people, whether that’s with client-facing communication or at the office.

Ten years ago, who did you think you would be now?

I grew up in a small town in Michigan. I was sure I was going to be the attorney for the city and create my own life there. That plan quickly changed when I went away to college and eventually moved to Austin!

Choose a movie title for the story of your life.

There’s got to be some drama and mystery to it. Something like The Katie Chronicles: The One that Got Away. I like the sound of that.

Your friends would say that you’re…

My friends would say I’m kind...and talkative. They’d also say that I’m dependable and always down for a good time.

What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?

I haven’t been to many concerts, but I had the opportunity to see the Dixie Chicks. I was a big fan. My best friend and I would joke about being Wanda and Mary Ann from "Goodbye Earl."

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Easy. It’s called Mac and Cheese Pizza. Carbs on carbs. You take a frozen pizza and then you add mac and cheese on top of it.

What’s in your purse right now?

I have mints, an iPhone charger, my wallet, and my little black book. My little black book carries all the business cards that I’ve collected from people that are interested in making custom socks. My first outbound client, Batch Kolaches, is in there.

What’s the weirdest job you’ve had?

Definitely detasseling corn. I was about 13 or 14. I’d wake up at 5 am to go to a farm to “detassel” corn (which basically is a form of pollination control) during the summer. I had to wear glasses, boots, and a netted suit to protect myself from the stalks.

You’re a new addition to Sock Club’s color swatch. What color would you be and why? Feel free to name it, too.

My favorite color is white, so I love our Bleach and Natural yarns. I’d probably be something in between those colors, maybe like a heather of both. I’d name it “Katie” of course.
